Staying Organized in College

Follow these easy tips to stay organized this semester.

Use a planner.

These can be an easy way to keep tabs on any upcoming events, tests or things that have to be done. Make out 5 to 10 minutes when any class ends to make notes about upcoming tests, assignments or items that need review. This will be a reminder during busy schedules to ensure that you don’t forget anything major. Note that this can only be effective if your planner is always with you. Find a planner that suits your needs and that is portable enough to carry around. If the traditional paper and pen method isn’t effective, consider apps like IStudiezPro or to write notes using your smartphone. These kinds of apps can be regarded as planners on the go. Consequently, try to stick with whatever you choose to use for a better organized semester.

Sunday set-up.

Now that you’ve gotten your planner, the time has come to schedule your time. A big distraction while in college is falling behind on cleaning and laundry. Try to make out time within the week to do basic chores so that you won’t be forced to do everything at once. Spending several minutes to plan out the small items has the potential of saving you a substantial amount of time in the larger scheme of things.

Tutor me!

It can be quite easy to fall behind when you don’t understand what is been taught. In a lot of college campuses, tutors are available and ready to help you get back on track regarding your semester goals. Schedule time every week to meet a tutor or a study group for the classes that you feel you’re not grasping.

Be on time.organized

Wake up at least an hour before class so as not to be in a rush. The rest of the day can be affected if you’re just 5 minutes late. To ensure that you arrive early to class, set a timer using your phone or put your alarm clock on the other side of your room. When you’re in a hurry, you usually feel frazzled and unorganized. So, try to plan ahead.

Find a study area effective enough for you.

To focus on studying, find a quiet and organized place. Whether this place is your room or the campus library, make sure you avoid distractions that will cause a lack of focus. Try to locate a spot that you feel alert. To evade drowsiness, avoid a bed.
